GambleAware Publishes List of iGaming Industry Donations

UK gambling risk reduction charity GambleAware, revealed it has collected £2.29 million ($2.96 million) in charitable sector contributions between April and September.

The number, which includes the first two quarters of 2020, excludes legal settlements and extra contributions, with the charity requiring gamblers in Britain to contribute at least 0.1% of their annual Gross Gambling Yield (GGY).

Gamesys contributed £450,000 of the overall sum in terms of the main gifts, with betway splitting £134,000 and 888 holdings becoming the second biggest at £50,000. Some large contributions come with £40,000 from Apricot Investments, while Videoslots contributed £30,000 and £25,000 from Inspired Gaming Group.

Petre (Gibraltar) Limited made two separate contributions totalling over £61,000, as did Casumo, the donations of which exceeded £43,000.

William Hill promised £1m when it comes to commitments while Praesepe Holdings pledged £85,500.

The released list contains only operators who make donations specifically to GambleAware, as operators will donate to other charities as part of their wishes to contribute to at least one charity for science, education, and care.

As part of the deal with the gaming commission, GambleAware has obtained £8.8m in legal payments over the time, which could be made to socially responsible causes.

William Hill made up of £3m for administrative defects from his Mr Green company in February and £5.8m from Betway, where the Gambling Commission fined £11.6m in March owing to a number of VIP deficiencies.

GambleAware collected £10m in charitable donations from the casino sector from April 2019 to March 2020.
