Dutch Regulator Raises Fines on Online Gambling Deals
Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Dutch Gaming Authority, has levied fines totaling €600,000 ($734,952) for the sale of unauthorized online games of chance.
On its websites www.futgalaxy.nl and nl.futgamer.com, Virtual Coin Gaming NV in Curaçao sold the games and earned a fine of €500,000.
Meanwhile an unidentified person has been fined €100,000.
For many factors, the KSA has announced the penalties have been raised, including that young people have taken part in the games of chance.
The body has noted that unauthorized games that directly target Dutch consumers are prioritized, and that this was the case for www.futgalaxy.nl and nl.futgamer.com, all websites using the Dutch language.
The games breached the Games of Chance Act, which stipulates that only if a license has been granted will a game of chance be given.
Online games of chance are banned in the region, with the new legislation specifying that a license for online games of chance can't be applied for.
The legislation is set to amend in accordance with the Remote Gambling Act that came into operation later this year.
Licenses will be made available for online games of chance but players must satisfy stringent player security requirements.
